PROBLEM:
Microsoft App-V Client service fails to start and generates error 1068 stating that the dependency group failed to start.
SOLUTION:
Verify that the following services are running:
- Network Location Awareness
- Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
- Network List Service
Once you start them, try to run the Microsoft App-V Client Service again. It should run.
CAUSE:
If you run an optimization script on your golden image (or any Windows Optimization Script), it may disable some services that App-V client service depends on such as the Network List Service and Network Location Awareness.
By checking the Event Viewer, you should be able to determine the culprit that is causing App-V to not launch. Below is an example of the Network List Service being disabled causing App-V to fail to launch.
